The History Of The Site & Its Name
Brief bit about the site:-
Essex Tau’ri is the brain child of myself and my Partner Matthew.
The name Essex Tau’ri was all Matthews doing. (Thank goodness, cause thinking of a decent name was driving me mad)
Tau’ri means ‘Humans from Earth’ and it comes from the show Stargate.
Essex is the place we come from within the
If you put the two together, ‘Essex Tau’ri’, (in my mind) you get Humans from
The site is a place for people who want to join the Essex Tau'ri, but it is also home to a comprehensive database of other sci-fi groups, if you wish to join a group more local to yourselves.
Having searched the web myself to see what other groups were out there, and seeing how hard it was to find some of those groups, I didn’t want others to have the same problems I did, in finding people local to them who shared there interest in all things sci-fi related.
So from a free yahoo group, site, there is now a place where people can come and, either find a group (like for example this one), let us know about the groups they already belong too (so we can add them to the database) or simply join the ever growing online community we have here (the Essex Tau’ri forums) and just chat with others….
